Broadway Cast of Latinologues to Begin Tour in Miami

The original Broadway cast of Latinologues is hitting the road with the show. Rick Najera, Eugenio Derbez, Rene Lavan and Shirley A. Rumierk will all appear in the piece's national tour, which is set to open at The Byron Carlyle Theatre in Miami, Florida on January 19.

Latinologues is a collection of monologues about the Latino experience in America. Topics covered include everything from beauty pageants to immigration. It was created and written by Najera.

The show, directed by Cheech Marin, opened on October 13 to mixed reviews. In his Broadway.com Review of the show, William Stevenson wrote: "Broadway is already becoming known for second-rate jukebox musicals such as Good Vibrations and Lennon. Latinologues heralds the arrival of a new, equally dispiriting genre: the second-rate stand-up comedy show. Rick Najera wrote the sketches, which are not only unfunny but also borderline offensive."

The comedy, which plays its 100th performance on Broadway on December 14, is scheduled to end its limited engagement at the Helen Hayes Theatre on December 31.
